Ski Fiss

One of the smaller Austrian ski resorts, ski Fiss for beautiful scenery and a variety of skiing and snowboarding as you are linked to Serfaus and Ladis to create 187km of piste to enjoy. Great snow, great après-ski and agreat winter holiday.

Where

Surrounded by beautiful mountains, if you ski Fiss you are linked with Serfaus and Ladis but the village keeps it's own identity. A beautiful traditional Tirolean resort, you can really get the feeling of being away from it all. It's location ensures good snow throughout the season - as well as sunny slopes thanks to their orientation. Getting here is easy if you're able to fly into Innsbruck Airport as it takes just over an hour to get to the resort. Other airports include Munich, Zurich and Salzburg that are all around 2.5 hours drive.

On the slopes

Thanks to the linked resorts, ski Fiss and you get over 180km of pistes, with predominantly blues and reds close to the resort itself. There's over 70 pistes in the larger ski area that offer all levels of ability a chance to enjoy themselves - however for out and out experts, you may be a little frustrated unless you venture off into some good off piste.

With the ski area predominantly focussed on beginners and intermediates this is a great resort for families and people not looking for a hardcore week of 9-5 challenges. All the lifts and facilities are excellent which also makes for a good holiday. If you are a boarder, then you will find two snow parks and a half-pipe. There are other advantages - with high altitude piste and plenty of snow cannons you are assured of snow whatever the weather, and the 70 ski lifts can uplift more than 75,000 skiers per hour, so you'll never have to wait in line for long.

Off the slopes

This is a small traditional Austrian village that shares its ski area with Ladis and Serfaus. Much of the old Fiss village centre has been retained, so you'll find plenty of 16th and 17th century houses, with stone walls, arched doorways and overhanging gabled roofs. There are over 20 restaurants and cafés serving traditional food and international favourites, and a friendly, if somewhat quiet, après-ski scene. But this is the Austrian après-ski so it is a lively if quiet affair (if that makes any sense!)
