GoSkiGoBoard Campaign

Inspired by the Olympics? If you have ever wanted to learn to snowboard or ski, then maybe now is the time! GoSkiGoBoard is a new national campaign that's being backed by the Snowsports England team.

Go Ski Go Snowboard

Having watched the Olympics, whether it's the Downhill or the Giant Slalom, Snowboard Half-Pipe or Ski Cross, learning to ski or snowboard is now easier than ever thanks to the indoor and outdoor slopes available across the UK. In addition, thanks to Snowsports England, it's even easier to give it a go to see if you get hooked.

How Can I get Involved?

Across the UK participating snow centres or slopes are joining in this initiative and whether you've never been on the slopes, or fancy "switching codes" the GoSkiGoBoard campaign could be just the thing to get you started again.

Luckily there's now no excuse not to drive a short way to find your nearest 'snow dome' rather than relying on outdoor slopes. You can't beat snow unfortunately, but the UK doesn't always get the right sort of snow, nor get enough of it. Coupled with a distinct lack of mountains, our ability to match the European snow sport nations is severely hampered. But don't despair.

The GO SKI GO BOARD campaign provides a number of great opportunities whether it's just you, or whether you're a group wanting to give it a go.

What's Involved?

The deal is a 6 hour ski or snowboard 'lesson' split across 6 weeks - meaning an hour a week (giving you time to practise in between lessons) - at one of the clubs offering the initiative across the UK - see below.
The Go Ski Go Board initiative caters for all levels and experience and the best bit is that the price you see is price you pay. So there's no hidden costs for equipment, clothing, lift pass or the 6 hours of instruction.

As an Individual :

You can contact any of the participating snowsports centres directly - see below for details. Most offer similar packages for individuals and groups, but always best to check if you have to drive any distance to get there.

As an individual you also get a couple of extra incentives :

  1. Become a "Snowsport Maker" and get a great deal if you can organise a group of friends to come with you
  2. Become a GO SKI GO BOARD Activator to promote the programme, gaining free time on the slopes as a reward

As a Group :

It doesn't matter what kind of group you are, school, university, from work or just a group of you from your local community, if you want to get on the snow - you're welcome!

Additionally, there's also a Schools Pathway that can help your students create an after school club, educational ski trips and even to get involved in English school championships.

Where?

Not all locations offer all the options, for example Thames Valley XC Ski Club focuses entirely on cross country skiing using tarmac for rollerski sessions.
