Ski chalets & accommodation
Whether travelling alone or in a group, ski chalets or ski hotels are the more traditional option for most UK travellers to the slopes.
With every resort offering ski chalets, hostels, hotels and increasingly apartments, the choice you have is quite astounding - whatever your budget and importantly regardless of how many you are.
Ski accommodation comes in three broad groups regardless of the actual type you are after. Basic, Good and of course luxury. Choosing ski chalets, ski hotels or ApartHotels is down to personal choice and budget. Make sure the one you choose serves your needs - no point going into an ApartHotel if you have 3 young children and all you can get is 2 rooms with no connecting doors.
Package holidays Vs Bespoke
You may be wondering which is best to choose - a package deal from someone like Neilson or Thomas Cook or to book the flights yourself, find a chalet yourself and of course all ski hire and lift passes side of things too. A lot of package ski holidays only operate from certain airports like Gatwick, Manchester and Birmingham. So if you live in the far North of Scotland - you may not have much choice.
It all comes down to how much work you want to do - if you like to be able to choose exactly what you want rather than be told which hotel and flights you will be getting - then looks like you will be on the bespoke option!!
Choosing accommodation :
Obviously after a hard days skiing and drinking, you need to come back to suitable accommodation for your needs - with or without Jacuzzi!!! Here's a quick and simple guide on how to go about working out what's right for you :
- Find out how many of you are going - as that will rule out some options!
- Workout your budget max and minmum - this too will discount some options (ie luxury probably!!!)
- Then decide on the resort you would like to go to - some accommodation is less prevelant in certain places e.g. chalets in Austria
- Choose the time of year that you want to go
- Find out if you have availablity and book it!
Finally, whatever the accommodation you actually choose, make sure you don't forget to get your insurance before you leave!
